Description Sublimated rash guard in the Tropical Sleeve design: tropical floral sleeves on a plain black body with a small chest crest. The black base hides mat dust and the sublimated print stays sharp wash after wash. A black no-gi rash guard is the one piece of BJJ gear that works at every gym, under every rule set and with every pair of shorts you own. This short sleeve version keeps the graphics subtle on a black base, uses a sublimated print so nothing peels, and is cut with the longer torso and flatlock seams that separate a grappling rash guard from a gym compression top. ## Why grapplers choose it Black hides sweat and mat dust, which is why it is the default color in most no-gi classes and the safest choice for competitions that restrict rash guard colors. The polyester-spandex knit stretches four ways, so the shirt follows you through inversions, berimbolos and tight guard retention without pulling at the shoulders. Because the print is sublimated into the fabric, the logo stays sharp while the shirt itself stays thin and fast drying. The price makes it easy to keep two or three in rotation so there is always a dry one in the bag. - Black base with subtle sublimated graphic - Flatlock seams and extended grappling hem - Four-way stretch polyester-spandex - Competition-friendly plain color ## Fit and sizing Sizes M to XXL on a slim athletic pattern. The supplier chart follows Asian sizing, so plan on one size up from your US t-shirt size for a regular compression fit; a man with a 40 inch chest should pick XL rather than L. The hem is cut long on purpose and should reach below the waistband of your shorts when standing. If you are tall and slim, stay with your usual size up and accept a slightly shorter hem rather than going two sizes up and losing the compression. ## Care Wash cold inside out after every roll, skip the fabric softener, and hang dry. Black polyester keeps its depth of color far longer when it never sees a hot dryer. Store it dry; a damp rash guard left in a gym bag overnight is the fastest way to a permanent smell. ## Shipping and returns Drillz Shop ships to the United States only. FAQ
Why do most BJJ rash guards come in black? Black hides sweat, mat dust and the occasional blood spot, and it is accepted at every gym and competition that limits rash guard colors. Many events require white, black or the color of your belt rank, so a plain black shirt is the one that never gets you turned away at the check-in table.
How should a no-gi rash guard fit? Close to the skin everywhere without restricting a full breath. The shoulders should sit flat, the sleeves should hug the upper arm, and the hem should reach past the waistband of your shorts so it can be tucked. Loose fabric gives your partner grips and rides up during scrambles, which defeats the purpose.
Can I wear a rash guard under a gi? Yes. A short sleeve black rash guard is the most common base layer under a gi jacket because it adds almost no bulk and keeps the collar and lapels from chafing. Check your competition rules first, since some events restrict what can be worn under the gi.
Is a rash guard the same as a compression shirt? Not quite. Both are tight polyester-spandex shirts, but a grappling rash guard has a longer hem, flatlock seams that lie flat under pressure, and a sublimated print rather than a screen print. Gym compression shirts are often shorter and use heat-transfer logos that peel after contact with mats and gi fabric.
