Description Muay thai shorts in a modern technical cut: a short, wide leg opening for knees and teeps, a stretch waistband instead of a stiff satin band, and a lightweight polyester shell that does not hold sweat. These are the shorts for pad rounds, clinch sparring and the conditioning class after, with none of the scratchy embroidery of a classic Thai short. ## Why fighters choose it Traditional satin shorts look great but the stiff waistband and heavy embroidery get uncomfortable through a two-hour session. This technical version keeps the Thai silhouette, high side slits and a hem that sits well above the knee, and builds it in a four-way stretch polyester around 140 GSM. The elastic waistband with an inner drawstring stays up without digging in during clinch work, and there are no pockets, zippers or metal parts. The graphic is sublimated, so the design will not crack along the hip fold where screen-printed shorts always fail. They double as MMA and kickboxing shorts for anyone who prefers the shorter Thai length. - Classic Thai length with high side slits for knees and kicks - Soft stretch waistband with inner drawstring, no stiff satin band - Four-way stretch 140 GSM shell that dries fast - Sublimated design, no cracking at the fold ## Fit and sizing Sizes M to XXXL. Thai shorts are meant to sit high on the waist and short on the thigh, and the supplier chart follows Thai and Asian sizing, which runs about one size smaller than US athletic brands. A 30 to 32 inch waist usually fits L, 32 to 34 fits XL, 34 to 36 fits XXL. The waistband stretches, so between sizes go up rather than down. If you want the shorts to sit lower on the hips like a pair of MMA shorts, take two sizes up and rely on the drawstring. ## Care Machine wash cold inside out, no fabric softener, hang dry. The shorts dry in about an hour. Do not iron and do not tumble dry, as heat dulls the sublimated print and loosens the waistband elastic. ## Shipping and returns Drillz Shop ships to the United States only. Standard shipping is free on every order and delivery takes 7 to 12 business days, with a tracking number sent by email as soon as the parcel leaves the warehouse. FAQ
Why are muay thai shorts so short? The short leg and high side slits leave the thigh free for knees, teeps and high kicks, and the loose cut does not bind in the clinch. Fighters have worn this length for a century because nothing restricts the hip. A longer hem is a style choice, not a performance one.
How should muay thai shorts fit? High on the waist, just at or above the navel, with the hem well above the knee. The waistband should be tight enough that a knee strike does not pull the shorts down, and the leg opening should be loose. If the shorts sit on the hips like gym shorts, they are a size too big.
Can I use these for MMA or kickboxing? Yes. They have no pockets, zippers or metal and the cut allows full kicking range, so they work for kickboxing, MMA pad rounds and striking sparring. For MMA classes with heavy grappling some people prefer the longer MMA short, which covers more thigh on the mat.
What is the difference between technical and traditional Thai shorts? Traditional shorts are satin with a stiff elastic band and heavy embroidery. Technical shorts keep the same silhouette but use stretch polyester, a soft waistband and sublimated graphics. They are lighter, dry faster and are more comfortable for long training sessions, while traditional satin remains the classic look for fights.
Which size should I order? Order one size up from your US waist: L for 30 to 32 inches, XL for 32 to 34, XXL for 34 to 36. The waistband stretches and the drawstring takes up the slack, so sizing up is the safe call. Size down only if you specifically want a very high, tight Thai fit.
