Long sleeve rash guard in the Jiu Jitsu Black design: vertical JIU JITSU lettering and red 柔術 kanji over a cracked black base. The graphic is sublimated into the fabric, so it survives mat burn, gi grips and a season of washing without cracking.
A long sleeve BJJ rash guard is what you want for cold gyms, mat burn protection and the no-gi classes where takedowns are part of the warm-up. This one is a polyester-spandex compression shirt with a sublimated jiu jitsu graphic, flatlock seams and a thumb-free sleeve that ends at the wrist without bunching under gloves or gi cuffs.

Is a long sleeve rash guard better for BJJ?
It depends on the gym and the season. Long sleeves protect the elbows and forearms from mat burn and skin-to-skin contact, which is why many coaches recommend them for wrestling-heavy no-gi classes. Short sleeves run cooler. If your gym is hot year round, keep one of each and choose by the day.
How tight should a BJJ rash guard be?
Tight enough that it moves with you and cannot be grabbed, loose enough that you can take a full breath and raise your arms overhead without the hem lifting. The sleeves should hug the forearm without cutting in at the wrist. A rash guard is not a weightlifting compression shirt, so you should never feel it limiting your range of motion.
Can I wear a long sleeve rash guard under my gi?
Yes, and in winter many people do. It keeps the cotton jacket from rubbing your skin and soaks up sweat before it reaches the gi. If you compete, check the rules of your event: some only allow certain colors or require the rash guard to match the belt rank.
Does this rash guard shrink?
